At the same time, killing Kodiak can help convince Shauna that Hannah can be trusted.
These suspicions are another reason that Hannah is unwilling to put her life into Kodiak’s hands.
Regardless of the true story, it likely wouldn’t have changed Kodiak’s fate.
Now that Kodiak is dead, the truth about the backpack will probably never be confirmed.
