While out, Joel and Dina come across Abby, a traveler who is being attacked by Infected.
The duo saves Abby and heads back to a ski lodge to meet her friends.
Ellie finds Joel as he is dying, with her crying over his body.

She decides to head out again and track down Abby, hoping to get revenge once and for all.

Ellie eventually tracks Abby to California, although they are in poor condition when they arrive.
Ellie saves Abby and Lev, but she then forces Abby to fight her.
During the fight,Ellie loses two of her fingers, but she manages to get the upper hand.

This is likely due to Ellie ignoring Dina’s pleas to not go after Abby again.
