She projects her own regrets and wants onto Rory, expecting her daughter to just follow her lead.

She also acts impulsively in her love life, which leads to hurt feelings on both sides.
Lorelai’s selfish tendencies are more frustrating because she doesn’t always act this way.
Lorelai’s behavior, as seen during Sookie’s kids' baptism, is incredibly immature.
And Rory remains frustrating until she returns to Yale and begins to find herself again.
