Ever sinceThe Expanseseason 6’s ending, a few different shows have attempted to fill the void.
For instance,Apple TV+‘sFor All Mankindsometimes feels almost like an unofficial prequel toThe Expanse.
However, the truest replacement yet has now been confirmed to be on the way.
Beginning life as a Syfy project,The Expansewas dropped after season 3.
Thankfully, Amazon picked up the show and ran it for three more seasons before it ended.
Even now, it remains one of thebest shows on Amazon.
So, the platform that allowed the show to conclude is givingThe Expansefans something else to look forward to.
Showrunner Naren Shankar is also returning (viaVariety).
The Captive’s Warbook trilogy is still in its early stages.
Only the first novel,The Mercy of the Gods, has currently been published.
That being said, book two is expected to arrive in September 2025.
Given thatThe Mercy of the Godsonly hit shelves in 2024, book three will likely hit shelves in 2026.
It’s even possible the books are being written in parallel to the show’s development.
As such, many fans of the franchise are still holding out hope thatThe Expansewill eventually come back.
Therefore, perhapsThe Expanseseason 7’s time-jumped setting can still be returned to afterThe Captive’s Waris complete.
