A flashback confirms that Richi met Victor around the same time he was going bankrupt.
Seeing this as an opportunity to earn money, he plotted a sinister scheme.
Unfortunately, he severely burned himself during the process and nearly died.
Therefore, Fernando calls Palacios and warns him moments before Victor shows up at his home to kill him.
To Palacios’s dismay, the warning arrives a little too late.
Amparo also manages to ensure that Richi breaks his streak of alcoholism and embraces being sober again.
This suggests they might eventually explore a deeper connection once Amparo has stopped grieving for her husband.

The show’s first installment also seems to have a well-rounded ending that leaves no loose ends.
For now, however, it is only a miniseries that will likely not get renewed for another installment.
