Both would be useful in investigating crimes.
Kayce brings his SEAL team experience to the role, and we see him apprehending crimes throughoutYellowstone.
For instance, he saves a Broken Rock girl, killing her abductors.
This includes Kayce using a maneuver he learned in the teams to make the medical examiners assistant momentarily unconscious.
Kayce is tactical and straightforward when attempting to convince the medical professional of his case.
That said, when she apologizes, he is gracious.
