Dying for Sex

Spoilers for FX’s Dying for Sex ahead!
Before she died, she wanted to change that.
Molly’s husband, Steve, was pretty terrible in theFX seriesDying for Sex.
He secretly loved his wife being sick since it made him the martyr caregiver.
Molly quickly left him and instead turned to her actor best friend, Nikki, to provide her care.

However, the only person she developed an emotional relationship with was Neighbor Guy.
Molly’s lung collapsed the precise moment that she told Neighbor Guy that she loved him inDying for Sex.
So, Neighbor Guy came to spend the night in Molly’s hospital room.
Her first goal after learning her cancer had returned inDying for Sexhad finally been achieved.
However, this took over a year of personal work for Molly.
It’s ultimately revealed inDying for Sexthat Molly was molested by her mother’s boyfriend when she was seven.
Over time, she finally allowed herself to tell Nikki all that had happened.
This didn’t immediately heal Molly, but it opened the door for her to slowly process the trauma.
Molly was never healed of her past trauma inDying for Sex.
It was because of this that she finally achieved her goal ofDying for Sex’s ending.
If it had, then the efforts to extend Molly’s life would come to an end.
She would be left with mere months or weeks to live.
Of course, it was ultimately confirmed inDying for Sex’s ending that Molly’s cancer had spread.
Just as Nurse Amy warned, Molly began to experience time differently.
At one point,Molly experienced some vivid hallucinations.
None of this was scary to Molly, however.
She was fascinated and at peace.
At the end ofDying for Sex, Nikki is acting like producing a production ofA Midsummer Nights Dream.
Everything worked out in the end.
Her own life had fallen apart, but she was paid back with a happy ending inDying for Sex.
The friends remind Nikki of herself and Molly, but it’s bittersweet.
This final scene ofDying for Sexemphasizes the complex array of emotions that follow tragedy.
