Commander Nick Blaine is one of the most morally ambiguous characters inThe Handmaid’s Tale.

However, things go horribly wrong, with June and Moira eventually killing a guard.

Thus, Nick decides to pay him a visit.

Nick goes to the hospital where he finds the seemingly comatose Guardian with his grieving wife.

The wife leaves Nick in the room with the Guardian alone, with the Guardian waking up.

However, Nick knows that this isn’t enough.

Immediately after walking out of the room, he turns around and reenters.

However, it seems obvious that Nick is killing the Guardian.

Nick is obviously a suspicious figure in Gilead, withepisode 5 proving that Commander Whartondoesn’t fully trust him.

The woman who was in the room could make the connection, getting Nick caught.

However,Nick is in trouble even if he didn’t kill the Guardian.

There was no escape for Nick if the Guardian was still alive, explaining his motivation to kill him.

What’s Nick’s Endgame In The Handmaid’s Tale?

The Handmaid’s Tale is a television adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s novel, released in 2017. It is set in a dystopian future where a woman is compelled to live as a concubine under a strict fundamentalist theocracy.

Everyone else inThe Handmaid’s Talehas a clear end goal.

However, Nick’s true goal isn’t known.

Nick’s endgame will most likely involve him choosing whether he is loyal to Gilead or to June.
