Summary
After grossing $800m worldwide, 2017’sWonder Womanis one ofDCEU’s most successful movies to date, but despite this, DC is reportedly uninterested in making a new movie.Wonder Womanbecame one of the mostcritically acclaimed DCEU moviesupon its release, even boasting the highest Rotten Tomatoes score of any movie inthe DCEU timeline.
The Patty Jenkins-directed franchise was in line to receive a third installment before the DCEU was finally brought to a halt with theannouncement of the DCU, whereupon the future of Wonder Woman became uncertain.
Yet Patty Jenkins has seemed to clarify on theTalking Picturespodcast (viaComicbook) that DC is “not interested in doing any Wonder Woman for the time being.”
This was after confirming that she was not returning to direct anotherWonder Womanmovie “for the time being, but probably, easily forever,” before stating that James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU had a monumental task ahead.
Despite this, Jenkins is supportive of their vision, stating:
“James Gunn and Peter Safran have to follow their own heart into their own plans.
So I don’t know the why of what they’re planning on doing or why, so I have sympathy for what a big job it is, and they have to follow their heart and do what they’re interested in, and do what they’ve got planned.”

According to the current release slate, Wonder Woman will not be joining the DCU for a while - but the delay is the right move from DC Studios.

Regardless, there is every reason to believe that Wonder Woman will be as integral to the DCU as she was to the DCEU.
Diana Prince is, after all, one of DC’s “big three” alongside Batman and Superman, and even though the DCU is set to spotlight more obscure characters, it will struggle to justify her absence for too long.
Given the DCU’s first phase, “Chapter One: Gods and Monsters” is yet to be fully confirmed,Paradise Lostis likely to comprise the launchpad from whichWonder Womanwill enter the DCU in earnest.
