Some of the characters in the show do both at different times.
They’ve spent ten years expecting not to worry about how to be able to afford college.
Even though Michael makes humorously stupid decisions throughoutThe Office, most aren’t as life-destroying as this one.
It’s just a miserable situation for everybody involved.
